Does Your Skin Need Rejuvenating?

January 30, 2026 Rebecca Siegfried

Then let's talk about the Holy Grail of skin care products!

What does Dr. Lucy’s proprietary face oils with rosehip seed oil, the Duchess of Cambridge, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and model Miranda Kerr all have in common? Reportedly, they use rosehip seed oil to keep their skin smooth and blemish-free.- Dr. Axe DNM DC CNS

Where Does Rosehip Seed Oil Come From?

Rosehip seed oil is pressed from the fruit and seeds of the rose plant. This magical elixir has incredible healing properties and is loaded with skin nourishing vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Rose oil on the other hand, is extracted from the rose petal.

CELL REGENERATION

Specifically, rosehip seed oil aids in regeneration, providing anti-aging benefits. It is particularly high in vitamin C, making it one of the richest plant sources for the skin. This is another reason why rosehip seed oil is a great choice. Says Dr. Axe

SKIN AGING REVERSED

Because it is high in free-radical fighting antioxidants, rosehip seed oil can be used to reverse the signs of skin aging, fight environmental pollutants and protecting the skin from the suns damaging affects.

SKIN TEXTURE IMPROVED

As a natural source of the antioxidant lycopene, rosehip seed oil improves the texture of skin and protects against premature aging.

It contains beta-carotene to reduce the appearance of skin aging by eliminating free-radical damage.

VITAMIN C

*Rosehip seed oil is also high in vitamin C, and is a natural skin anti-aging agent. Vitamin C is needed to produce collagen, a naturally occurring protein found in the body that supports elasticity and flexibility of the skin.

Vitamin C increases the synthesis of collagen. In other words, it’s the fuel needed to start the collagen-synthesis engine. Vitamin C is responsible for inducing these reactions.

VITAMIN A

Rosehip seed oil also contains vitamin A, a naturally occurring retinol, is essential for healthy skin and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

HELPS WITH SUN DAMAGE

One reason why skin wrinkles and marks appear is because of over-exposure to the sun – it is one of the top 10 causes of premature aging of your face. The sun’s UV rays may also cause spots on the face that result in wrinkles or discoloration. The antioxidants in rosehip seed oil seem to repair damages while the essential fatty acid content improves skin tone, pigmentation and texture.

Plus! being in the sun too long can also damage collagen production. Collagen levels drop as you age. But the vitamin C content in rosehip seed oil can help restore collagen production to normal. - Healthy and Natural World, Jenny Hills, Medical Writer and Researcher

Is Your Face Oil Too Thick and Greasy?

January 21, 2026 Rebecca Siegfried

If you’re new to face oils, you might be envisioning a thick or greasy texture, but the best ones like Dr. Lucy's Rouge Revitalizing Proprietary Blend Face Oil isn't that.

The main topic of conversation that I would like to talk about today is the Organic Rosehip Seed Oil that has lovingly been named, "natural retinol alternative" because of it's high Vitamin A, C and Beta-carotene content.

Wait a minute, I thought you wanted to talk about face oil? I do, plus Retinol in face oils!

So what is the difference between Retinol and Retinoid? Here is a simple explanation. A Retinol is not as strong or chemical based like a Retinoid. A Retinol can be in a natural form such as the Organic Rosehip Seed Oil I am talking about and the one I will always recommend. A Retinoid is a chemical, much more powerful and you would need a prescription to get it. Like I have said many times, applying products like Retinoids to your skin will thin the skin, make you look older in the long run, plus can wreak havoc on your hormonal system. You can look at this natural Retinol explanation this way. Think of a bicycle wheel that has ten spokes, that is your Retinol with all the parts working together so that the wheel functions properly. Now think of that wheel with only one spoke, that is like Retinoids, the wheel will not function properly, in fact it will fall apart and breakdown. Whether it is the food we eat or the products we put on our skin, the whole, natural form will always benefit the body and help to turn over youthful, strong cells.

I'm thrilled to say some of the Dr. Lucy products are on that new wave of natural Retinols!

I know, you are probably wondering what I am talking about, well let me explain. As you can see below a photo of the Dr. Lucy "Rouge" Revitalizing Proprietary Blend Face Oil. This magic wand is loaded with light weight, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Frankincense, Rose Otto (Rose Damascena) plus Rose and Clear Quartz to nourish, revitalize and boost collagen formation just to name a few.

Just a quick note about lighter face oils vs. heavy...

"It is a myth that people with oily skin can't use face oils," says dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner, MD. But, that doesn't mean you can use just any oil. For example, he says that those with oily skin will want to avoid heavier oils like olive or avocado, because they're rich in oleic acid which can lead to breakouts. He recommends rosehip oil because it's a lot more lightweight.

8 Rose Hip Seed Oil BENEFITS!...

Benefits of not only the Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, but the amazing Rouge Revitalizing Proprietary Blend Face Oil and all her very potent, synergistic and special other ingredients.

1. Helps boost collagen formation and cell regeneration which is essential for skin elasticity and firmness.

2. The essential fatty acids help keep cell walls strong so that they don't lose water.

3. Specific for anti-aging.

4. Helps reduce inflammation and calm irritation resulting from rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis.

5. Brightens skin.

6. Promotes healing.

7. Help reduce dullness and leaving you with glowing, vibrant skin.

8. Helps reduce hyperpigmentation which can result from a number of factors, including:
Sun exposure, Hormonal changes and certain medications.

Fun Fact: The Rosehip Seed Oil that is in Rouge Revitalizing Proprietary Blend Face Oil is dark orange/red in color, meaning the darker the color (top shelf so to speak) the less processed and the more powerful it is! What does that mean for you? Bright, firm, soft, even skin tone, boosted collagen formation and healthier skin cell turnover!

P.S. I highly recommend splurging a little on Rouge, she is a gem! It will last you forever because you just need a little bit. Plus the steel roller ball feels so good on your skin and helps Rouge glide on effortlessly!

P.P.S. Rouge Revitalizing Proprietary Blend Face Oil is now in the Dr. Lucy Sample Kit!

I have always said and many of you know, that years ago the Dr. Lucy products really took off because of the Sample Kit! This kit has honestly started its own cult following. Once you tried the Sample Kit, whether you purchased it yourself or received it as a gift, you realized you purchased high quality, fresh, natural skin care products that you could believe in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I/we look forward to another year of making you and your skin happy! Just remember I/we love hearing from you, it actually makes our day. If you have questions or comments we are always here to serve you.

Do You Love Your Skin?

December 20, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, Paris, France

Here are some tips on loving your skin during the winter months!

First and foremost!

Our "French Friday Skin Care Newsletter" is celebrating another Christmas!

From the mountain tops to the deep valleys, everyday of every year I feel truly blessed and grateful.

Thank you for understanding the fresh, natural concept of Dr. Lucy and helping us become a stand out natural skin care company in the U.S. We are honored and truly appreciate you as customers and clients. Merci beaucoup mon coeur.

Tips on how to keep your skin plump and happy during the harsh winter weather!

You know I have said a million times and even posted it on the Dr. Lucy website under "My Story" on how my skin is so sensitive. If I don't stay on top of it going into these winter months, my skin will become tight and dry very quickly from the dry air, cold climate and heaters that are blasting away. Here are some helpful "love your skin" tips on how to keep it nourished, calm, hydrated and glowing all winter using the Dr. Lucy products.

Creme Cleanser:

Since skin irritation can increase along with dryness in colder weather, a kinder, gentler creme cleanser, rather than a foaming or gel is the key. Dr. Lucy's Gentle Creme Cleanser is the perfect choice for hydrating and balancing the skin, plus it deeply cleanses the pores and will take off waterproof or bullet proof makeup! Not sure why we say "bullet proof", but you get my meaning. :)

Toner:

An absolute must anytime of year for balancing, hydrating and allowing all your other products to work so much more effectively!

Serum:

Start off any cold weather skincare routine with a natural serum that has a hydrating base. Serums containing botanical hyaluronic acid like Dr. Lucy's 2-in-1 Hydrating Serum work well in the winter, spring, summer and fall.

Moisturizer:

Thicker doesn’t mean better! We can assure you that heavier creams don't necessarily work better, and they may even clog your pores. When it comes to soothing dry flaky skin, it's actually the ingredients of a moisturizer that matters, and not how thick it is. Dr. Lucy's Ultra Moisturizer has the perfect combinations of natural ingredients to nourish, protect and hydrate all day in every kind of weather. One of our secrets in the Ultra Moisturizer is botanical hyaluronic acid. 33,000 feet up in the air or at sea level, you are always hydrated and dewy fresh!

Face Oil:

Face oils can protect the skin's acid mantle. Face oils can also speed up the skin’s own healing process and help repair damage from external influences, like extreme temperatures, over-cleansing, low humidity, sickness and travel.

Hydrating Masque:

A hydrating face masque, like the Dr. Lucy's Luscious Rose Equalizer Hydrating Masque, is perfect for wintertime dryness. It helps to heal redness and inflammation while tightening pores, plumping skin and stimulating collagen for a more supple look and feel.

P.S. Remember consuming lots of spring water, herb teas, and natural oils like organic olive oil, wheat germ oil, cod liver oil, etc. are your friends for beautiful skin from the inside out year round!

Merry Christmas to all!

With Love and Blessings!

Eye Creams or Gels?

November 15, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Which one should you use?

I'm going to do a quick eye gel vs. eye cream based on my own personal studies which still in the long run is my opinion:). Then I'll let you decide which one you prefer, so let's dive in!

It's Been Said the Eyes Are the Window To the Soul...

Since the skin care market is saturated with every kind of eye cream or gel you can imagine, it's sometimes hard to know which kind to buy. You might even think that using your regular facial moisturizer on your eye area is sufficient. It hydrates your skin and it may even contain an anti-aging formula, so it should be enough for your eyes, too, right? Well, not exactly. Your facial moisturizer is meant for a different type of skin on your face. Facial moisturizers in general are way too thick and usually have too many different kinds of oils and humectants for this delicate eye area.

Eye Gel's vs. Eye Cream's

Gel

Since the delicate eye area is one of the first spots to show signs of aging and stress, eye gel is a very important step in your skin care regime. It doesn't just help reduce puffiness and increase brightening, anti-aging, firming and tightening, but it can also moisturize and nourish your sensitive eye area to ensure your entire complexion is getting the best possible results.

A gel absorbs very quickly. But don’t be fooled into thinking this means they don’t hydrate the skin. In fact, they are a nutrient dense powerhouse for that sensitive eye skin. Gels can reverse prominent signs of aging and tiredness and can improve circulation in the area surrounding the eye.

Creams

Creams can definitely have the active ingredients your delicate eye area needs. BUT creams are heavier by nature and usually have extra added oils. These extra oils don't absorb into the delicate eye area like a gel would.

An eye cream can also weigh down the delicate under eye area, causing your skin to sag and makeup to slide and settle into any fine lines and wrinkles.

As you can see I personally prefer a gel over a cream for better absorption and deeper penetration of active ingredients. It's lighter weight consistency doesn't weigh down the undereye area, or cause your makeup to melt. Win, win and win!

P.S. When You Apply Your Eye Gel or Cream...

Make sure you use gentle taps to avoid tugging on the skin. This goes for the entire area above and below the eye. And use your ring or pinkie finger to apply your eye product — they tend to be the weakest fingers, so they won’t pull on your skin as much.

With Love and Blessings!

6 Do's and Don'ts Skin Care Tips During The Cold, Dry Months!

October 30, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Fall is officially here, and winter is right around the corner! The sundresses and flip flops are packed away, and we’ve all made the cozy transition into scarves, boots, and warm layers.

In this October edition of the Dr. Lucy Skin Care Newsletter, I’ll be sharing the do’s and don’ts of skincare during these cold, dry months. Let’s dive in!

With the drop in temperature and humidity, our skin loses moisture fast — leading to flakiness, crepiness, rough texture, breakouts, poor elasticity, and more visible fine lines and wrinkles. Using the right products and being extra gentle can help maintain hydrated, plump, calm, and glowing skin—even in the chilliest months.

➤ Your Skin-Saving Tips for the Next Six Months

1. Stay away from intense exfoliation!

According to Dove Dermatologist Dr. Alicia Barba, many of us exfoliate far too often, thinking it will give us smoother, clearer skin.

“Over-exfoliating can strip the skin of its essential oils, leading to breakouts in the drier, colder months,” says Dr. Barba.

Let your skin breathe and repair by limiting exfoliation and using gentle methods instead.

2. Invest in a hydrating cleanser

“Dry skin is more than just unsightly and uncomfortable—it can lead to serious issues like eczema, psoriasis, and winter itch,” says Dr. Barba.

A cream-based cleanser, like Dr. Lucy’s Hydrating Cleanser, rich in nutrient-dense carrier oils, is your new best friend this season.

3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Your skin needs constant hydration to combat the elements.
Try the Dr. Lucy Ultra Moisturizer—packed with Botanical Hyaluronic Acid, which holds up to 1000 times its weight in water for long-lasting hydration and protection.

4. Layer up on hydration before bed

Nighttime is the ideal moment to go all-in on moisture. Layer your night cream with a nutrient-rich facial oil to help prevent collagen breakdown while you sleep. Wake up with skin that feels soft, calm, and renewed.

5. Hydrating masques? Oui, oui!

I love hydrating masks for their ability to heal, soothe, and deeply nourish.
Steer clear of drying or peel-off masks—they can damage your skin barrier, break down elastin, and leave your skin worse off. Stick to creamy, soothing formulations that replenish.

6. Your humidifier = your anti-aging time machine!

Dr. Mona Gohara, a dermatologist in Danbury, CT, swears by humidifiers for skin health.

“They add moisture to the air—and this leaves your skin radiant, glowing, dewy, and even a bit more plump,” she says.

Running a humidifier in your bedroom at night can help your skin stay hydrated and youthful-looking through the long, dry winter.

With just a few mindful changes, you can protect your skin from cold-weather damage and keep it glowing right through to spring.

Until next time—stay warm, stay hydrated, and stay glowing.

With Love and Blessings!

Why's Hyaluronic Acid So Magical For Your Skin?

September 17, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

" For starters, HA can bind up to 1000 times its weight in water! In other words, it functions as a humectant and holds water molecules onto the surface of your skin to keep it nice and hydrated." -Healthline.com

I'm kind of a natural science nerd in a way. I am fascinated with why and how something works, especially if it has to do with the skin and body!

So Let's jump in and let me try to breakdown how skin ages, the problem with the loss of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and what YOU can do to help slow down this process forever!_

Here Comes My Science Nerd Talk!

Hold On and Hang in There! I Think You Will Understand Where I Am Going With This!...

What is Aging Skin?
Skin aging has two different biological processes. The first is intrinsic (natural) or innate aging. This process is going to happen to our bodies whether we like it or not and is unpreventable.

The intrinsic process affects all internal organs just the same as your great, big external organ which is the skin.

Intrinsic (internal) skin aging is influenced by hormonal changes that occur with age, such as the gradual decreased production of sex hormones (androgen) from the mid-twenties and diminishing estrogens and progesterone associated with menopause. This deficiency in estrogens and androgens results in collagen degradation, dryness, loss of elasticity, epidermal atrophy and wrinkling of the skin-(Dermato Endocrinology, US National Library of Medicine, July 2012).

The second is extrinsic aging. This process happens when you are exposed to external factors, such as ultraviolet (UV) rays or irradiation, environmental chemicals, etc. This is also known as the dreaded "photoaging" process.

What is "Photoaging"?
This is damage to the skin from the sun. It has many names such as photodamage, solar damage, or sun damage.

Which Brings Us to Why You Need Hyaluronic Acid or HA On Your Skin Everyday!...

"In the dermis, HA is responsible for regulating water balance and maintaining the cell structure by utilizing its high water retention and viscosity. These facts suggest that HA is an important substance that maintains a healthy skin. The structure of hyaluronan."- Biomedcentral, Jul 11, 2014

Ok So Wait, What About My Collagen?...

Hyaluronic Acid and collagen are interrelated and cross-linked together.

Loss of moisture (HA) in the skin means loss of collagen. Which also brings about dehydration, atrophy and loss of elasticity which characterizes aged skin.

"Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin, [and] it helps to bind water to collagen, trapping it in the skin so that skin can appear plumper, dewier, and more hydrated." Explains board-certified dermatologist Tsippora Shainhouse.

"Hyaluronic acid helps skin stretch, flex and reduces skin wrinkles and lines. Hyaluronic acid is also proven to help wounds heal faster and can reduce scarring." -Clevelandclinc.org May 4, 2022

"The marketing for collagen products claims they can improve skin elasticity, reduce visible wrinkles, and increase blood flow to the skin. "Collagen is what keeps our skin from sagging, giving us that plump, youthful look." cedars-sinai.org Jan 15, 2020

So as you can see, HA is a really BIG deal for your beautiful skin journey!

Botanical Hyaluronic Acid vs. Lab-Created Bioidentical Hyaluronic Acid...

Botanical Hyaluronic Acid is usually created by bio-fermentation in a lab rather than harvesting from rooster combs or originally cow eyeballs in the 1940's.

Generally in skincare, when you see hyaluronic acid, it means sodium hyaluronate that was LAB-created to be bioidentical (synthetic) to the botanical hyaluronic acid found in nature.

Bottom Line? Botanical HA YES! Lab-Created HA NO!

The Botanical Hyaluronic Acid that is used in our/your Dr. Lucy products, is the safest most natural and effective Hyaluronic Acid on the market today! Natural, safe, effective and toxic free now that's a win, win!!

With Love and Blessings!

Are You "Oil Pulling" for Clearer Skin?

August 17, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Are You "Oil Pulling" for Clearer Skin?

What does "Oil Pulling" have to do with skin care?

Oil pulling isn't just for teeth. It will also help you to achieve a clean and clear complexion. I know this sounds downright bizarre, but trust me, it works!

Why Did I Start Oral Oil Pulling?

Actually I started because of my husband, he is a Chiropractor and Naturopath. We were talking about it one morning and he told me he was going to start "oil pulling" again, so I said I'm in! I can't completely explain it, but I feel I am really pulling toxins out of my body through the oil in my mouth. Kind of odd sounding but true!

What I Have Noticed So Far...

My teeth are whiter (honest!), less sensitive and overall my oral health is very good! Plus I know I am pulling damaging toxins out of my body and skin for overall better health!

Please read on and I think you will be surprised!

Let's Start With Oral Oil Pulling...

A traditional Ayurvedic practice for removing toxins, oil pulling is a technique as simple as its ingredient list—you’ll just need coconut, sesame, or olive oil. As soon as you wake up, swish around two tablespoons of oil on an empty stomach for at least 20 minutes. Then, resume with brushing your teeth and using mouthwash to get rid of any residue.

While oil pulling has been most closely associated with teeth whitening, its benefits span past just oral health. Oil pulling in the morning removes toxins that have accumulated the night before, preventing them from entering your bloodstream and contributing to unfavorable skin. For some, oil pulling has alleviated conditions like eczema and psoriasis, while others have noticed a healthier complexion. -L'Officiel

*“Oral health is related to the health of the whole body, so when we take care of the mouth with oil pulling, we [may] support our overall health,” says Larissa Hall Carlson, an Ayurvedic practitioner in Manchester, Vermont.

Oil Skin Cleansing...

Oil cleansing also utilizes the single ingredient to rid skin of potential breakout agents like makeup, dirt, bacteria, dead skin cells, and sebum. Based on the simple chemisty of oil attracting oil (and water separating from oil), by massaging in facial oil for an extended period of time–at least 15 minutes–the oily lipids on the surface of the skin bind to the cleansing oil and are more easily washed away. Cleansing for a longer time allows for the oils to pull waxy sebum from the skin and can sometimes give physical results, extracting the oil plugs from your pores. It's important to start with dry skin, so that the skin's natural oils or the ones in your makeup have direct contact with the oil cleanser and can be dissolved. -L'Officiel

*You can use oils like extra virgin olive oil, coconut, avocado, or sesame oil (which is a bit too strong for me) these all work well.

What Toxins Does Oil Pulling Remove?

Oil pulling is believed to help in the excretion of toxic heavy metals by saliva. Oil pulling activates salivary enzymes which absorb toxins such as chemical toxins, bacterial toxins and environmental toxins from the blood and removed from the body through the tongue. Thus oil pulling detoxifies and purifies the entire human body. -NIH, National Library of Medicine Jan 2017

Original Indian Journal of Dental Research In a Nutshell:

Effect of oil pulling on plaque induced gingivitis: A randomized, controlled, triple-blind study:

Aims:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of oil pulling with sesame oil on plaque-induced gingivitis and to compare its efficacy with chlorhexidine mouthwash.

Materials and Methods :
A total of 20 age-matched adolescent boys with plaque-induced gingivitis were selected for this study. An index scores was done after 10 days.

Conclusion:
The oil pulling therapy showed a reduction in the plaque index, modified gingival scores, and total colony count of aerobic microorganisms in the plaque of adolescents with plaque-induced gingivitis. -Indian Journal of Dental Research, Year 2009, Vol. 1, Issue 1, pg. 47-51

Would I Recommend Both Oral and Skin Oil Pulling?

100% YES! Just make sure you do not swallow the oil when you are done swishing it around in your mouth, it can actually make you sick because it is so toxic. Spitting out the used oil into a garbage can would be best.

*Find out more about "Oil Pulling" by checking with the "Genie In The Bottle", I mean Google. :)

Your health is more than just skin deep!

With Love and Blessings!

Do Your Collagen Supplements Really Work for Your Skin?

August 7, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Let's talk about collagen supplements, some pros and cons, then you decide...

Even though research about the effectiveness of collagen supplements is still in its early stages, pills and powders that contain collagen have gained popularity in recent years.

Collagen supplements are often advertised as being able to do things like restore sagging skin and diminish wrinkles. Some research supports the idea that collagen supplements can be beneficial to your skin and overall health, but the research is very limited.

Collagen is an important part of our skin's makeup, it provides structural support and elasticity. After age 20, people begin slowly losing their body's collagen supply each year.

What happens when you consume collagen supplements?

You can't actually target specific areas of your body and these products may not be absorbed by your body in a way that will make a visible or notable difference in your skin.

Like most proteins, when collagen is heated, it loses all of its structure with the unwinding and separation of Atom proteins, etc. Then, when this denatured mass of tangled chains cools down, it soaks up all of the surrounding water like a sponge, forming gelatin, which you don't want... Had to get a little chemistry talk in.

Look at it this way...

Powder collagen should not gel, but food collagen (like bone broth, etc.) should gel.

In a nut shell...

Heat harms the potency and effectiveness of a variety of vitamins and other nutrients. Starting at about 120 °F and going all the way up to 240 °F, which is about 30 degrees hotter than boiling water! Anything above 240 °F? Denatured and pretty much down and out for the count!

Most collagen supplements and powders are not highly regulated.

Since the FDA categorizes supplements as a food, not a drug, they do not verify the claims made about these items.

Healthier alternatives? YES please!

The effects of collagen supplements continue to be researched and debated. Instead of buying these supplements, you can always help your body make more collagen naturally by ensuring your diet is packed with healthy foods.

Foods that contain gelatin, such as bone broth, provide collagen.

Gelatin is a protein substance derived from collagen after it’s cooked and is found in the connective tissues of animals. Thus, foods such as chicken skin, pork skin, beef, and fish are sources of collagen.

Major collagen food players...

Proline: found in egg whites, dairy, cabbage, mushrooms, and asparagus
Glycine: found in pork skin, chicken skin, and gelatin, and a variety of other protein-rich foods
Vitamin C: for collagen synthesis. Found in citrus fruits and bell peppers
Zinc: found in beef, lamb, pork, shellfish, chickpeas, lentils, beans, milk, cheese, and various nuts and seeds
Copper: found in organ meats, cocoa powder, cashews, sesame seeds, and lentils

Bottom line?

Dr. Lucy will help you take care of your collagen and elastin on the outside. You take care of your collagen from the inside. :)

With Love and Blessings!

On with the newsletter!...

Is Your Skin Overexposed?

8 Summer skin care tips about sun, exfoliation and hydration!

*Since the heat is on I decided to bring this newsletter back. Extreme heat means less clothing, less clothing means more skin overexposed.

During the long days of summer, when the sun’s rays are the most intense, exposed skin is more susceptible to the effects of photoaging, or the premature aging of skin cells caused by ultraviolet (UV) light.

In fact, as much as 90% of the visible signs of aging on your skin are a result of sun or UV exposure. - Manhattan Dermatology, New York

Skin Care Tip 1:

"Pay attention to the clock to stay protected.

Part of the appeal of summer is having fun in the sun. But the sun’s rays are at their most intense between 10am and 4pm. By paying attention to the clock while you’re out in the park or playing on the beach, you’re better be able to protect your skin this summer.

You don’t have to run inside when the clock strikes 10am, but you should take steps to avoid sunburn and sun damage. If your shadow is shorter than you are, it’s a good idea to take precautions.

Skin Care Tip 2:

Here are some ways to protect your skin during peak sun hours:

Seek shade like umbrellas, trees, or other sunshades.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat to keep the delicate skin of your face out of the sun.
Choose sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection to stop sun damage around your eyes.
Cover up with loose, light-colored clothing.
Schedule extended outdoor activities outside of peak hours.
You can still have a great time outside in the summer sun as long as you make sunscreen part of your skin care routine and pay attention to the peak sun hours.

Your skin will thank you for taking precautions this summer to prevent premature aging and skin cancer." - Manhattan’s Murray Hill, New York

Skin Care Tip 3:

Try to avoid constant sun exposure and definitely tanning beds. These may also lead to early signs of aging.

Remember, natural sunscreen, hats, sun clothing and umbrellas are vital to protect you and your loved ones from overexposure from the sun.

*Maybe try a non-toxic self-tanning lotion instead. Improvements in these self-tanners has helped to give self-tanning products a more natural, streak-free look. Before applying the lotion, spray or mousse to your entire body, apply it to a small test area just to make sure there is no irritation.

*The Wen Bella Spirit Self Tanning Bronzing Mist gives a beautiful faux tan.

Skin Care Tip 4:

Always use some type of natural exfoliating product (I don't recommend loofas), which will help to remove old, waxy skin cells plus other debris and particles from your skin. Exfoliating will expose the healthy cells and rid your body from the old ones.

*Dry brushing daily if possible, plus a natural enzyme peel a couple times a week will work wonders!

Skin Care Tip 5:

If your lips tend to become chapped in the winter months or wind burnt at other times, using lip balm or lipstick will help to protect the lips from nature’s worst.

* I actually use the Dr. Lucy 2-in-1 Hydrating Serum on my lips before applying my lipstick or lip balm! I like the added layer of protection.

Skin Care Tip 6:

Dry or cracked skin can be very unbearable, not to mention the discomfort. Use plenty of natural moisturizing body lotions and body oils in order to replenish and lock in the skin's natural moisture. The environment can be very hard on your skin so be aware.

*After your bath or shower apply lotions and oils while your skin is still damp to lock in all that super moisture and hydration.

Skin Care Tip 7:

Do not use products that irritate your skin in any way. The harsh ingredients in soaps and other foaming products strip your skin of its natural oils. This goes for body lotions with "fragrance" and other toxic chemicals.

*The hot sun mixed with toxic chemical ingredients and "fragrance" from your skin care products can cause dangerous reactions to your skin!

Skin Care Tip 8:

Pretend you have sensitive skin even if you don't. This way you are more prone to baby your beautiful epidermis!

Do You Need Botanical Hyaluronic Acid For Your Skin?

June 6, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Can It Really Help Your Skin?...

As we age moisture can drop off significantly, which makes the skin lose elasticity and expose the natural signs of aging on the skin. Topical, rather than injectable, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) plays a critical role in skin health with it's unique ability to hold in moisture. Hyaluronic Acid is also a "smart nutrient" as it can adjust its moisture absorption into your skin based on the humidity-relative to the season and climate.

According to the 1999 Journal of Investigative Technology, Hyaluronic Acid penetrates the skin so that the skin is able to absorb just the right amount of moisture. Unlike Collagen, HA is able to penetrate the skin's upper layers to improve and benefit the skin when applied topically. Elavonne, a skincare blog with over 20 years experience in developing researched based formulas to improve health says, "Hyaluronic Acid is a major component of skin, where it benefits tissue repair and protection." Hyaluronic Acid is IMPERATIVE to good skin health.

Is Botanical Hyaluronic Acid more safe and effective than the chemical version?

Yes! Clinical studies have shown it has a better effect on the skin than man-made Hyaluronic Acid in providing higher moisturizing, softening and overall improvement of skin complexion.

Where does Botanical Hyaluronic Acid come from?

Botanical hyaluronic acid is derived from a plant called Cassia Angustifolia (Senna alexandria).

Where does chemical Hyaluronic Acid come from?

Up until the late 1990’s, the only way of deriving Hyaluronic Acid was to get it from animal-based sources, such as rooster combs. No thank you!

Added Benefits of Botanical Hyaluronic Acid!

1. Deep Hydration
Botanical hyaluronic acid acts as a powerful humectant, drawing moisture from the environment and locking it into the skin. This results in lasting hydration that helps maintain a supple, well-moisturized complexion.

2. Natural Plumping Effect
By retaining water in the skin, it visibly plumps the surface—softening the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

3. Enhanced Skin Elasticity
With consistent hydration, the skin becomes more elastic and resilient. This boost in firmness supports a tighter, more lifted look over time.

4. Strengthens Skin Barrier
It reinforces the skin’s natural protective barrier, helping defend against environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays, which can lead to premature aging.

5. Visible, Long-Term Results
Regular use promotes improvements in skin texture and tone, revealing a more radiant, even, and healthy-looking complexion.

* Dr. Lucy products were designed to detect your skin's needs and then act on those detections. What do you mean by "detect" your skin care needs? Naturally potent, botanical ingredients such as botanical hyaluronic acid, can actually sense the weather conditions, then adjust to your own personal environmental needs whether it be the lack of moisture in the air or humectants.

With Love and Blessings!

Do You Only Cleanse Your Face With Water?

May 2, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Let's talk about why you need more than just "water" to cleanse your face winter, spring, summer or fall.

Testimonial! “The best cleanser on the planet earth!!!!" -Lora G.

I have heard about a few, and I do mean a FEW people that are using "water only cleansing" to cleanse their skin.

They are saying cleansing with just water leaves your skin glowing. Even some dermatologists are getting in on this "water only cleansing" process. I will forever say, "you do you", but hear me out when I say "water only cleansing" is honestly just not enough.

Let me tell you a story about my skin...

Plus the first job I had in a lighting and plumbing store, then you can make your own decision if "water only cleansing" is the best way to cleanse your skin.

When I was a junior at Montgomery High School (Santa Rosa, CA)...

A friend told me about this job opening at a lighting and plumbing store. I thought great, this could help me pay for my gas since I lived way up on Sonoma Mtn. Rd, not too far from Glen Ellen, Kenwood, St. Helena and Sonoma/Napa, wine country! Living so far out also meant I used a lot of gas going back and forth from home to school, etc.

I started my first official job working at a place called Yardbirds, a plumbing and lighting store, first in the office filing, but also on the floor stacking shelves, learning how to assemble hanging lights and then hanging them on ceiling hooks in the front of the store. PLUS they had me training as a checker. I was taught a little bit of everything!

Yardbirds is where my skin dilemma started!

My skin was always clear except for an occasional breakout (mom and gma taught me well about skin care thankfully). So after about one month of working at Yardbirds, my skin started breaking out like crazy, and I don't mean just a little, I mean flat out, full blown, red, inflamed acne!

Mom really took notice!

She thought about my dilemma then put 2 and 2 together! She said lovingly, you always come home with a dirty face. Yes I did, an oily, dirty face! Then she asked, are you putting your hands on your face during the day? She knew the answer to the question already. I was a very shy child and had my hands on my face a lot, so yes, my hands were on my face on and off ALL during the day!

Together we made up a plan to conquer my skin breakout problem...

First, I had to become hyper-aware of this habit of putting my hands on my face and stopping it! Trust me, this was easier said than done.

Second, I had to wash my face with this crème cleanser (oil based) my mom had, both morning and evening. Actually as soon as I got off work and walked in the door!

Third, I had to change my pillowcase every morning when I woke up to help this process of keeping my skin clean. I also had to wash off the steering wheel in my car every evening because of all the dirt I had on my hands, even though I washed them at work! Like I said, I had to be hyper-aware with this new skin care regime.

Did all this due diligence payoff?

YES! Within two weeks my skin was almost clear again! I had to continue this process the whole time I worked at Yardbirds and beyond!

How does this story have anything to do with cleansing your face with only "water"?

Water alone does NOT and will not cleanse your skin. Cleansing with "water only" will not take off the makeup, old sebum, dirt, grime and dead skin cells (just to name a few). Water will only smear all this gunk around your face, helping it to do a deep-dive into your pores and aging your skin unnecessarily faster.

There is a very good saying about cleansing your skin with oil or an oil based crème cleanser, "good oil takes off bad oil".

Here is a dermatologist that does believe in oil based cream cleansers and why cleansing properly with them is the best way to cleanse your skin!

"When massaged into the skin, oils in the cleanser bind to surface impurities (pulling out dirt without clogging pores) and allow them to be comfortably rinsed away leaving the skin clean, soft and hydrated, explained Dr. Diane Walder, a Miami-based cosmetic dermatologist."

Some Q & A about cleansing your skin properly.

According to dermatologist, Dr. Kang Seung Hun, skin sebum and sweat production increase by 20 percent during summer. During this period, the skin also produces more dead skin cells to protect itself from UV rays.

To ensure that our skin stays in tip-top condition, we’ll need to be extra aware about our cleansing routine when the temperature increases to prevent clogged pores, acne, and other possible skin issues under the warmer climate.

So how do we get our cleansing routine down pat during all four seasons? Here are some professional tips according to Dr. Hun based on some common cleansing questions.

Question #1. Can you wash your face using only water if you don’t use makeup?

Tip: You should always wash your face with a gentle crème, oil based cleanser morning and evening like Dr. Lucy's Gentle Crème Cleanser, even if you haven't applied makeup.

Why?

Even if you haven't applied makeup, your skin still has bodily wastes and sebum caused by sweat and dirt remaining on your skin. Water alone can’t wash them off. So you’ll need to use cleansing products like an oil based crème cleanser to aid in the gentle, deep cleansing process.

Question # 2. Is it beneficial to use an electronic facial cleansing brush if you have a lot of dirt and makeup on your skin?

Tip: Facial cleansing brushes can do a good job of cleansing your skin thoroughly, but it can also irritate your skin. Some women swear by their Clarisonic. Others reported skin allergies and rashes after using the brush.

Why?

According to Dr. Hun, the key is in how you use the brush on your skin. You should never use strength to exert the brush on your face. Always be gentle to ensure the brush feels soft on your skin.

I am personally using only a soft, wet, warm washcloth on my face. I have less Rosacea flare ups this way.

Question # 3. How should you cleanse if you only wear sunscreen and no makeup?

Tip: You should double cleanse even if you only wear sunscreen and no makeup.

Why?

The higher the amount of zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide in sunscreen, the harder it is to wash them off. You will definitely have to double cleanse. In fact, you should be worried if your mineral based sunscreen can be washed off relatively easily because it might not have withstood your perspiration and did not last as long as you’ve desired it to.

I personally do not use a waterproof sunscreen on my face. Hynt Beauty Broad Spectrum SPF25 is what I use.

I hope that gives some food for thought about the "water only" cleansing method.:)

With Love and Blessings,
Rebecca

P.S. And By The Way!

Some people use olive oil, coconut oil, etc., as a sunscreen. Some people swear by these which is great! They are natural, easy to apply, etc. but with only an SPF of about 4-8.

Does Your Skin Need De-Stressing?

April 4, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

External and internal daily stressors wreak havoc on our skin, consequently starting the process of our skin's breakdown much more quickly than we would like. Here are a few ways to maintain a calm, clear complexion.

Stress aging...

Anyone who's had a rough week knows the look: puffy eyes, dark fine lines. "We call it stress aging." says Manhattan-based dermatologist and psychiatrist Amy Wechsler, MD. "Daily stressors such as a demanding job, a lack of sleep, and an unhealthy lifestyle can manifest as pallid patches, pimples, and wrinkles, which can add three to six years to your skin."- April Long, ELLE

Stress, digestion, bacteria, inflammation and hormones!...

As dermatologist Whitney Bowen MD, author of The Beauty of Dirty Skin, explains, "Stress slows down digestion, which creates a shift in bacteria that can compromise the integrity of your gut lining. This can cause inflammation throughout the body and lead to acne flare-ups as well as premature aging." Furthermore, the stress hormone cortisol is no friend to skin. "It's infamous for breaking down collagen," Bowen says.

Ways to slow it down...

Thankfully, much of this damage can be slowed down and even stopped by focusing on daily moments of self-care. "When you trigger what's called the relaxation response, it can stop psychological stress from being translated into inflammation," Bowen says. "I have patients download and use the meditation app 'Breathe' and five minutes a day of it can make a world of difference to skin."

Tips! Destressing your skin!

Natural vs. Chemical Skin Care…

Natural skin care uses topical cremes and lotions made of ingredients available in nature. Chemical skin care stresses the skin causing it to age much faster. They can also be very harmful to your hormones and organs.

Sleeping in your makeup is murder on your pores and complexion...

"Going to bed with makeup on will leave you with clogged pores, since so many makeup products have ingredients like silicones that block the pores. When the pores are blocked, your skin gets bumpy. If you are acne-prone, it can even lead to breakouts. You are effectively damaging skin by neglecting to remove makeup at the end of the day." -Debra Jalman, a New York City-based, board-certified dermatologist and author of Skin Rules: Trade Secrets

Stay Hydrated!

Not only does stress quickly dehydrate the skin, but skin that is dehydrated is unable to function properly.

Drink plenty of water, as well as herbal teas and water-rich foods. This will keep your skin cells hydrated from within.

Regular movement is a major factor!

When you get your heart rate up, your skin receives a greater amount of oxygen and nutrients. This then gives it an immediate glow, while also allowing your skin cells to function more efficiently.

You Want Me to Put Acid on My Face?!

March 23, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Acids and skincare don’t exactly sound like a good pair.

However...

Acids encompass some of our favorite ingredients–things like Hyaluronic Acid (preferably Botanical), Glycolic Acid, and even Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)! Let’s delve in to how we can use them.

First of all, an important note:

There are two different types of acids used in skincare; exfoliating acids and fatty acids. When used properly in your skincare routine you can see the benefits in the way your skin looks and feels.

Below, we have listed some of the most common types of exfoliating acids used in skincare...

Exfoliating Acids
Exfoliating acids help skin to look its best by removing dead skin cells and revealing a fresh complexion.

Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is the smallest and most highly soluble of the alpha hydroxy acids making it especially efficacious in exfoliants and chemical peels. It reduces cell adhesion in the uppermost layer of the epidermis, promoting exfoliation of dead skin and cell replacement contributing to a smoother brighter complexion.

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polymer found in connective, neural, and epithelial tissue in both animals and humans. Hyaluronic acid can hold about 1,000 times its weight in water. Because of its ability to hold water, HA is an easy choice when looking for an ingredient that will hold moisture when applied to the skin. As always and forever, we recommend botanical HA only!

Lactic Acid
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid manufactured by fermentation of non-GMO corn derived carbohydrates. Lactic acid is used in the formulation of cleansers, splashes, astringents, and moisturizers to enhance the appearance of dry or mature skin. Lactates are also effective humectants and buffering agents in soaps and wipes due to their excellent ability to attract and hold moisture within the skin.

Citric Acid
Naturally occurring citric acid is a member of the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) group and in skin care products it is often used as an ingredient in exfoliants and chemical peels, Most often citric acid is used to adjust the pH in personal care products such as lotions, cremes, shampoos, etc.

Fatty acids
Are critical building blocks in helping skin to appear hydrated, plump, and more youthful. Essential fatty acids are not produced by the body naturally so they must be eaten or applied directly to the skin.

Myristic Acid
Myristic acid is a non-toxic fatty acid that occurs naturally in some foods, such as animal fats and most vegetables. Nutmeg, palm oil, and coconut oil contain relatively high levels of myristic acid. The saturated fatty acid myristic acid has 14 carbon atoms. Myristic acid is used as a cleansing, surfactant and opacifying agent in cosmetics and personal care products.

Stearic Acid
Stearic acid is a vegetable (castor) derivative used to stiffen and stabilize lotions and cremes. Stearic acid occurs naturally in the human body and vegetable fats.

P.S. So the next time you reach for a pretty bottle of shampoo or face & body care products, look at the ingredient deck and think about which kind of "acid" you are wanting on your skin and what is it's main purpose.

Who Wants Beautiful Skin Plus a Little LOVE?!

February 14, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

February is the Perfect month for both! Read on!

There are so many different kinds of love!
Agape — Unconditional Love. First, we have agape love. ...
Eros — Romantic Love. ...
Philia — Affectionate Love. ...
Philautia — Self-love. ...
Storge — Familiar Love. ...
Pragma — Enduring Love. ...
Ludus — Playful Love. ...
Mania — Obsessive Love.

Whew! Lot's of love here! But what I want to talk about is self-love, Philautia Love. I'm not talking about the crazy, selfish love, I'm talking about taking care of and respecting your body kind of love.

If you take care of your house (your body) it will stay strong well into your adult years and beyond.

One way of showing love and respect for your body is by taking care of your skin!

Let's talk about natural masques and why I only recommend natural, non-drying masques. Plus it doesn't matter what your skin type is!

I know, I can hear you from here saying, "are you crazy!" Lol! Probably, but not about skin care and definitely not about what kind of masque to use. I will also breakdown why you should be using a natural, hydrating masque, plus some of their benefits.

A masque is or should be a nutrient dense barrier you apply to your skin once or twice a week. Should also be high in antioxidants for calming inflammation, firming, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, softening and diminishing scar tissue. Plus a masque that will aid in repairing the dreaded "sun damaged" skin. Damage that becomes more noticeable with each passing birthday. Remember your skin is having those birthday celebrations also!

Why a drying, peeling or chemical masque is not your friend! Please keep reading...

"I have learned the hard way! I am not a big fan of drying, peeling or chemical masques. Why? I have sensitive skin and am prone to Rosacea. So with that said I can tell you what can possibly happen if you use a harsher kind of masque, whether you have "sensitive, dry, normal or oily skin issues.

Our skin is a natural organ that needs to be cleansed, hydrated and protected everyday. Drying, peeling and chemical masques have a tendency to disrupt the surface layer of the skin by pulling and tearing the skin and cell structure, some do this more than others. These type of masques can also cause a loss of elasticity, promote inflammation, irritations, uneven skin-tone and very possibly sagging skin!"

Let’s breakdown some myths about the types of skin we might have, and to better understand why using a natural hydrating masques is best.

Sensitive skin can be oily, dry and seem more balanced and normal when you calm the inflammation and get it under control. Drying, peeling, and chemical masques have the potential to disturb your skin and cause more inflammation and irritation.

Dry skin is lacking good oils from the inside and on the outside. Therefore, a drying, peeling, chemical masque could just make this condition worse and cause a vicious, negative skin cycle.

Normal skin can seem balanced if you are meaning "normal" as being not too sensitive, dry or oily. With that said, even "normal" skin can become disturbed, have dry patches, inflammation, and breakouts. As you can see, the word "normal" is extremely relative.

Oily skin is just the sebaceous glands giving out a bit too much sebum. I have observed through the years as a Microcurrent technician, and developer of Dr. Lucy, how many clients with oily skin have used these chemical or natural or clay drying masques. They have noticed how their skin actually becomes more oily after using them.

So again, these drying masques are not your friend. Your goal is to balance your oil production and though it may sound counterintuitive a drying, peeling masque will dry your skin out and cause your glands to work overtime producing even more oil.

A hydrating masque like Dr. Lucy's is chocked full of good oils!

Good oils in a hydrating masque, help to "unclogged" old sebum (old skin oil) out of your pores and off your skin, leaving it hydrated and more youthful looking.

What does this mean?

Hydrating masques=no disturbance to your skin! The skin’s mantle (protective layer) remains in more of a pH balance. This also means that all of those antioxidants and nutrient dense ingredients will dive deeper into the skin's top layer to nourish and help balance your oil production. Amen to that!

Fun Facts!

History Of The Face Masques:

The first thick, creamy facial mask had honey as a main ingredient and was invented in England during the 18th century by Madame Rowley. Did you know honey was and still is a very popular hydrating and healing masque!

P.S. Marketing is how products get into the customers (your/my) hands. Investigate before you buy and always ask why. I love the saying, “Trust But Verify.” I personally always say, “Verify First and Maybe Trust.” Intuition can be a beautiful thing if we listen.

Love and blessings,
Rebecca

I Want To Look More French!

January 31, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

How Do I Do This?!

A few (actually a lot) of my personal lifeisum's and TIPS for your questions!:

First, you are truly beautiful at any age so don't try to look 20 at 50+. (You know what I mean).

Work at being happy in your own skin. By working at this, you will always be able to make yourself look better and feel better...I really mean this. It's amazing what a little lipstick or walk around the block can do for your mental state of mind!

Have a daily routine! Get-up every morning (even if you are working from home), brush your teeth, shower, wash your face and comb your hair.

Mom always said, take a shower or bath in the evening to wash off the day and shower or bath in the morning to wash off the night. Plus, you will be healthier and less sluggish during the day if you do. New day, new you!

Stretch, walk, light weights, or whatever you resonate with for movement and oxygen.

Pull your clothes together (pj's are not day clothing;)).

Eat some fresh, 'live' food and get on with your day!

Find YOUR own uniqueness and own it!

Stop 'over' looking around at other women wishing and hoping you had their amazing... (fill in the blank). This is hard on your mind and takes up a lot of negative head space. Yes, it does take a lot of mental work to not only be aware that we are doing this, but to also change the habit.

Turn off the Kardashian's, you said you wanted to be more French!

Don't follow someone else's standards. "That's like chasing a rabbit down a rabbit hole" or another way to say it is, "you will never catch that carrot!"

Healthy Inside and Out!:

1. Natural, fresh, botanical skin care products twice a day for healthy, youthful, less problematic skin. As my Irish grandmother would say, (insert Irish accent!) "Dr. Lucy is your man!".

Again, Dr. Lucy fresh, natural, French style skin care for more youthful skin. It will nourish, protect, calm, plump, revitalize and regenerate...everyday and night!

2. 1-2% natural Glycolic Acid mask once a week to remove dead skin cells (No drying peels).

3. Organic foods: Fruits, veggies, protein (fewer chemicals is a good thing).

3. Limit sugar and caffeine (I'm not talking about being a monk).

4. Lots of spring water (Love Crystal Geyser!).

5. Whole food supplements (If the bottle reads in ‘IU’s’ then it is not a whole food supplement).

6. Best kept beauty secret? 8+ hours of sleep a night and try to go to bed at the same time every night (body clock rhythms are very important).

7. Work on keeping your makeup more natural looking, same with your hair.

8. Classic Clothing (Check out some French sites).

9. Last but certainly not least, relax and go live your life!

Love and Blessings,
Rebecca

What Is The Difference Between Retinols and Retinoids?

January 18, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

Yes I know, these words are sooo confusing, but keep reading and I think you will have a better picture of their meanings and benefits.

Here is a simple explanation about the differences between Retinol and Retinoid?!"

Dr. Lucy and Natural Retinols...

First I'm thrilled to say some of the Dr. Lucy products are on that new wave of natural Retinols. I know, you are probably wondering what I am talking about, well let me explain. As you can see below there is a photo of the Dr. Lucy "Rouge" Revitalizing Face Oil. This magical wand is loaded with top of the line Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Frankincense, Rose Otto (Rose Damascena).

The main topic of this conversation today is Organic Rosehip Seed Oil. It has lovingly been named, "natural retinol" because of it's high Vitamin A, C and Beta-carotene content.

So let's get back to why using Organic Rosehip Seed Oil on your skin is so important.

No matter what your skin type, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil can make a beautiful difference in your skin.

8 BENEFITS of not only Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, but the amazing Rouge Revitalizing Face Oil and all her very potent, synergistic qualities, plus other special ingredients.

Fun Fact:

Rosehip Seed Oil like in Rouge that is dark orange/red in color means the darker the color the less processed and the more powerful it is!

P.S. We are starting to become a real voice in the natural skin care community because of our fresh, potent, natural skin care products and because of you not only sharing your stories, but also sharing the Dr. Lucy Sample Kit! I have always said and many of you know, that years ago the Dr. Lucy products really took off because of the Sample Kit! This kit has honestly started its own cult following. Tips For Making Healthy New Year’s Resolutions!

January 3, 2025 Rebecca Siegfried

That will stick!

Increase your vegetable intake!

Most of us don’t eat enough vegetables, so start small. If you’re not eating many vegetables, focus on adding 1 or 2 more servings a day. Throw a handful of spinach into pasta, or add peppers and onions to your scrambled eggs. You don’t have to start eating salad for every meal to get a big nutritional benefit.

Switch from refined, white grains to whole grain

Choosing whole grain pasta or brown rice can increase fiber, which is important for digestive health.

Cook at home 1 more night a week

We all get in the habit of relying on processed or packaged foods because they’re easier to throw together at the end of a long day. Try to cook just one more night a week with fresh ingredients. It’s a great way to cut down on hidden sodium and extra calories.

Let's talk Celtic Sea Salt vs. table salt!

Some benefits of Celtic Sea Salt...

Enhanced Nutrient Absorption
Supporting Digestive Health
Natural Electrolyte Balance
Balances Ph
Soothing Skin Properties
Healing Damaged Skin
Promotes Cell Growth
Supports Thyroid Health
Relieves Joint Pain and Leg Cramps
Keep Reading For More Benefits!

“Many minerals, including magnesium and potassium, have a direct anti-hypertensive effect. The government-conducted National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) revealed that low mineral intake, specifically of magnesium, potassium and calcium, is directly associated with hypertension. Repeated measurements over 20 years have confirmed the relationship between low mineral intake and elevated blood pressure.”

Altogether, unrefined sea salt contains around 84 minerals, including iodine, calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, iron and zinc. In contrast, refined table salt comprises just two minerals, sodium and chlorine, making it extremely unbalanced.

“Unrefined salt will not cause elevated blood pressure,” declares Dr Brownstein. “In fact, due to its abundance of minerals, it can actually help lower the blood pressure in hypertensive patients.”

"An adequate supply of magnesium ensures that unused sodium is promptly eliminated via the kidneys. -Dr David Brownstein, MD, delves into the merits of sea salts in his book, Salt Your Way to Health."

Cons of commercial salt...

Naturally derived Celtic salt has a different taste and texture than table salt, which is industrially refined and processed at high temperatures, turning it into sodium chloride. According to Dr. Edward F. Group III, DC, NP, founder of Global Healing, commercial salt is made by taking natural salt and cooking it at 1200° Fahrenheit, a level of heat that destroys many valuable, naturally occurring minerals.

Commercial salt is often adulterated with ingredients such as ferrocyanide, dextrose, talc and silica aluminate, which is a name commonly applied to chemical compounds derived from aluminum. We would ideally avoid consuming this heavy metal in any form, because once an aluminum load exceeds the body’s excretory capacity, the excess is deposited in various tissues, including bone, brain, liver, heart, spleen and muscle. This accumulation appears to be linked to a host of health problems.

Cut down on sugary drinks

Tennessee is second only to Mississippi in soda consumption, and more than 40% of us drink non-diet soda daily. Cutting down on that is an easy way to remove empty calories, and the same is true of juice, which many people forget about. Start by trying to cut out 3 sugary drinks per week, or drink one extra glass of water per day. Most of us don’t drink enough water, and hydration is key for metabolism to function properly. I personal do not like soda, but love unflavored carbonated water that I make in my Soda Stream. Plain water and herb tea are also my go to's everyday.

Go meatless 1 day a week

Swap the meat in one or two meals for beans, lentils or organic tofu, for example, which are great, affordable sources of protein and fiber.

Are You Harming Your Skin For The Sake Of Beauty?

December 8, 2024 Rebecca Siegfried

Today's newsletter is all about protecting and healing your skin, keeping it away from invasive, dangerous procedures.

Your skin is a delicate organ that needs to be protected...

I promise you if you do your due diligence, be gentle with your skin, and use natural and organic skin care products that are potent enough on your skin like Dr. Lucy, you will have healthier, denser, calmer skin, more youthful skin.

Aging gracefully doesn't mean you give up on taking care of you or your skin, and don't let anyone tell you different!

People ask me daily...

If I have had Botox or any other kind of invasive procedures done to my face, I always answer no and I always will. Don't let "make believe" Hollywood or anyone else dictate how you feel about yourself and what you "should" look like.

To inject or not inject, that is the question...

Sorry not sorry, but injecting, cutting or tearing up your skin with the "latest fad" is not right, safe or ok, doesn't matter who told you it was a good thing to do.

Products I recommend!

Microcurrent, enzyme masks, Anma, Liftlab, top shelf, toxic free skin care products, eat well, drink lots of spring water and that's just to name a few. Why? Because they are healthy, safe, noninvasive, soothing, plus they all really work!

The French think of it this way!

There are no quick fixes to healthy skin. Nourishing and nurturing your skin with healthy, natural and organic skin care products and procedures like what we mentioned above, will not only strengthen your skin but will also help you to get that buoyant, firm and youthful glow you are looking for. Chemicals, injections and surgery are not your answer, but I really do respect whatever you feel you need to do for yourself.

With Love and Blessings!

What Has Happened To My Collagen?!

November 22, 2024 Rebecca Siegfried

There's only so much you can do to slow the natural decline of collagen in your skin. Let's talk about what can help or harm this very important protein!

The collagen in the skin is affected by age in various ways...

"The skin becomes thinner and drier, and develops sags and wrinkles due to the collagen and elastin becoming disconnected." Says, Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, M.D. In his article: What is collagen and what happens to it when we age?

Dr. Spiegel also states:
1. Growth of new cells slow down dramatically.
2. Dull colored skin can occur as the dead cells do not shed as quickly.
3. Aging skin is more susceptible to the development of brown spots on the face and body.
4. Intrinsic aging (hereditary) Extrinsic aging (caused by tobacco and environmental factors).
5. Smoking-contains chemicals that stimulate collagen-destroying enzymes and slows down the cells which produce collagen by 40%.

Here Are a Few Answers To Some Very Important Collagen Questions...

Does Rubbing Your Face Produce Collagen?

Yes, a simple massage can both strengthen muscle memory and spur collagen production. Gently massaging your facial muscles daily can also boost blood circulation, making the skin look refreshed and more youthful.

Does Coffee Affect Collagen?

Caffeine suppresses collagen production by preventing cell growth and interfering with the development of cartilage. In turn, this affects the ability to make new collagen and the genes involved in maturing cartilage cells. One study found that caffeine reduces collagen synthesis in human skin.

What Causes Rapid Collagen Loss?

The collagen tissues support the formation of bones, tendons and cartilage that form depending on the level of mineralization. However, an individual can lose collagen components in the body due to exposure to ultraviolet light, tobacco, excessive intake of sugar, and aging.

Here Are Just 13 Foods That Protect and Increase Collagen Production?

1. Broth

2. Chicken

3. Fish and Shellfish

4. Egg Whites

5. Citrus Fruit

6. Berries

7. Tropical Fruit

8. Garlic

9. Leafy Greens
